My opinion on things I see in the news.
It’s been a long time since my last update. About a year I think. I’m writing now because I’m reluctant to let the blog go without an entry for more than a year but I’m not sure what to say. I don’t even keep a diary any more because I don’t have much to say these days. I’m doing well. The Lord has brought me to a place of peace and prosperity after a lifetime of lurching from crisis to crisis. I don’t have everything my heart desires. I’d love to own my own home but that is not looking possible with the price of property these days but I…
I have been watching the TLC reality show, 19 Kids & Counting, for a while now and the news that the eldest of the 19 children, Joshua Duggar, molested some of his siblings when he was young does not really shock me. When I first began watching Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their 19 children I had very mixed feelings. A group painted their faces black to impersonate the Jackson Five on an Australian TV show called "Hey Hey It's Saturday" recently. The comedy segment they performed in is known as the "Red Faces" section of the show and it has resulted in red faces all around but not all because of embarrassment.
The news that a man and his two sons assaulted police who came to break up a drunken brawl and were acquitted despite having left one of the policemen permanently injured led me to feel despair at the anarchy invading our society. Another news item made me feel a whole lot better about it though.
The bush fires in the Australian state of Victoria burnt so much more, in my opinion, than what has been reported in the media.
Car repairs, Facebook and the economy are on my mind at the moment.
The controversy over the work of Australian photographic artist, Bill Henson, leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand I can see the artistic merit in Henson's work but, on the other hand, I am a rabid hater of pornography whatever form it takes.
